Thomas Hultén, Principal trombone with Houston Grand Opera/Houston Ballet and ROCO, started playing at the age of ten in the local music school and a year later joined the Salvation Army Band in his hometown of Katrineholm, Sweden. Thomas regularly performs in the Houston-area with his Dixieland-band “The Hot Vikings” and is also a founding member of the Houston Jazz Orchestra. They will be performing classic songs from the Golden Age of Jazz including works made famous by Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Pete Fountain, and Al Hirt. The Hot Vikings band members are: Felix DeLeon, trumpet; Ernesto Vega, sax-clarinet; Thomas Hultén, trombone; Paul Chester, guitar; Thomas Helton, bass and Joe Slezak, drums.
We originally planned to present the University of Houston Concert Chorale but they were not able to perform.
