Join Hope Cowan, harp, and Zachary Montasser, violin, as they explore works of introspection, reflection, and creativity for harp and violin from across cultures and genres. Musical selections will include Irish folk songs, classical favorites by Massenet and Faure, and pop standards.

About Hope Cowan…
Originally from La Crosse, Wisconsin, Ms. Cowan relocated to Houston, Texas in 2009 to pursue her music education.  She has a Master’s of Music degree from Rice University and a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of Houston, both under the instruction of Paula Page.

As an orchestral musician, Ms. Cowan is the principal harpist of the Symphony of Southeast Texasand the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra.  Formerly, she was the principal harpist of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra. She has served as a guest musician with various symphonies including the Milwaukee, Victoria, San Antonio, Brazos Valley, Lake Charles, and Corpus Christi Symphonies. She has also been a guest musician with the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, Opera in the Heights, and Mercury Chamber Orchestra.

About Zachary Montasser…
Violinist, Zachary Montasser,  earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in 2011 from University of Houston’s Moore School of Music, and then went on to receive a Performance Certificate with a focus on violin performance in 2013 from DePaul University in Chicago studying with renowned American violinist, Janet Sung.

An avid chamber musician, Zachary was the founding member of two classical string quartets, the Clark Street Quartet and the Fusion String Quartet, which was featured in the prestigious Hot Spring Music Festival, the House of Blues, and toured throughout the US.  He was a featured violinist in the Tikvah Company of Artists, where he accompanied live contemporary dance.  He has also performed in the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra, the 42nd Parallel and has played in the orchestra for Broadway show including Oliver!, My Son Pinocchio, Cinderella, and others.
